New Delhi/ Mumbai, October 15 (ANI): India pumped liquidity into its markets and took measures aimed at helping its $106 billion mutual-funds industry on Tuesday as its rupee and stocks rallied after governments worldwide moved to restore confidence in the financial sector. Reserve Bank of India governor Duvvuri Subbarao said that the market situation was under control but did not comment on what more measures might come.

Tokyo/ Seoul/Sydney, October 14 (ANI): Japan's Nikkei average soared more than 13 percent on Tuesday rebounding after its worst one-day loss since the 1987 stock market crash. The Japanese government announced its own measures to stabilize the market and vowed to remain vigilant. In Seoul, shares opened 4.2 percent higher. New Delhi, October 14 (ANI): Election commission of India announced the dates of the assembly polls for five states in New Delhi on Tuesday. Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Mizoram and NCT Delhi will have one-day polls, while central Chhattisgarh will have elections in two-phases. The Chief Election Commissioner N. Gopalaswami announced the schedule for the elections. Gopalaswami also said that the counting of votes in all these states would be conducted on December 08.

New Delhi/Mumbai, October 14 (ANI): India's Bombay Stock Exchange's sensitive index, Sensex surged as the market opened on Tuesday following strong gains in overseas markets. At 11:35 am, Sensex was up by 4.63 per cent. National Stock Exchange's 50-share Nifty was also up by 3.90 per cent. Traders said a revival in foreign fund inflows was needed for the gains to be sustained. But many investors expect that the market would witness small upward trends in the bullish regime for another 6-7 months.

New Delhi, October 14 (ANI): The trade minister Kamal Nath on Monday said that foreign direct investment or FDI, in India will be in excess of $35 billion in the current financial year that ends in March despite the global economic melt down. Last week, Nath had said that FDI’s in India rose 124 percent to $14.6 billion in the April-August period. The Trade Minister also said that India expects exports to grow by 30 percent this month, in line with the growth so far in the 2008/09 financial year.
