Haldwani, March 9 (ANI): Women belonging to lower income group in Uttarakhand have now become self reliant under the Swarnjayanti Gram Swarozgar Yojna, a poverty eradication scheme launched by the Government of India to provide self-employment through small industries. Under the Swarnjayanti Gram Swarozgar Yojna, assistance is given to rural women living below the poverty line for taking up self-employment. At present, there are around 216 self-help groups in Haldwani Block in Nainital.

Mohali, October 18 (ANI): West Indies will stage the World Twenty20 championship in April-May 2010 instead of the one-day Champions Trophy, the International Cricket Council or ICC said on Saturday. The World Cup is scheduled to take place in the sub-continent in 2011, ICC chief executive Haroon Lorgat told a news conference in Chandigarh. The second edition of the Twenty20 World Cup will be hosted by England in June next year.

New Delhi, December 18 (ANI): The Lower House of Parliament, Lok Sabha, on Wednesday unanimously passed the bill to set up a National Investigative Agency and also endorse amendments in the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act of 1967 and Central Industrial Security Force Act. The bills will now be presented in the Upper House of parliament, Rajya Sabha for final clearance. Earlier in the day, Home Minister P Chidambaram said that any reservations from any party can be reviewed in the next session.
