Kolkata, January 10 (ANI): Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee on Sunday expressed his concern over the law and order situation in West Bengal and said that it is the responsibility of the state government to maintain law and order and to protect the people living in Maoist infested areas. On Friday, eight persons including a woman were killed in firing allegedly by cadres of the Communist Party of India-Marxist, the ruling party of West Bengal at a village in the state's Lalgarh region of Paschimi Medinipur district.

Maoists blow up railway control room

Rourkela, January 09 (ANI): Maoists blew up a railway control room in Rourkela city of Orissa on Sunday during early morning hours. A railway employee on condition of anonymity said that there were more than 70 to 80 Maoists who blew up the control room. According to railway employees, Maoists also captured some ten to twelve employees who were inside the control room at the time of attack, but freed them after some time. The main purpose behind capturing those employees was to threaten them.
