India culls poultry to contain bird flu outbreak

Murshidabad, March 10(ANI): Only a month after authorities declared that the bird flu was under control in eastern India, veterinary workers began culling thousands of chickens on March 10 to contain a fresh outbreak in poultry. The outbreak was reported from West Bengal's Murshidabad district where 900 chicken and ducks died over the last two weeks. Officials said the outbreak, the fifth in India since 2006, has been reported from two villages of Murshidabad district.

New Delhi, Mar 11(ANI): The rough ride for the Indian automobile industry continued with overall vehicle sales declining 10.34% in February mainly on account of falling motorcycle sales that declined 17.68%. According to figures released by Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers or SIAM, domestic passenger car sales managed a growth of 2.31% in February. Total domestic vehicles sale in February stood at 742,027 units as against 827,594 units in February 2007.

Blasts in Lahore kill at least 15 injure many

Lahore, Mar 11(ANI): According to police officials, at least 15 people were killed, including two children and many others wounded in the twin blasts in Pakistan’s eastern city of Lahore on March 11. One of the blasts occured at the office of Pakistan's Federal Investigation Agency or FIA, shattering the office building. The nature of the blasts was not immediately confirmed. However media reports suggest that it could have been a suicide bomb attack.
