Dawood's brother Iqbal Kaskar survives shootout

Mumbai, May 18 (ANI): Two unidentified men opened fire at Iqbal Kaskar, brother of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim in Mumbai on Tuesday. Luck favoured Kaskar as he managed to escape unhurt, but one of his bodyguards, Asif Zaveri, was shot at. Zaveri was rushed to JJ Hospital, where he was declared brought dead. Two other bodyguards, Anwar Hippi and Anwar Karate, managed to survive. Rajkumar Vatkar, Deputy Commissioner (Operations) said two persons have been apprehended and the interrogation is in progress.

Seven CRPF jawans killed in maoist blast

Chhattisgarh, May 18 (ANI): Seven troopers of the paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force were killed on Tuesday night when a commander's escort vehicle was blown up in a landmine blast by Maoists in Chhattisgarh. The landmine attack, the latest salvo in a four-decade long insurgency that has killed thousands, came late on Tuesday hours after the rebels called for a two-day general strike from May 21 to demand the release of three of their leaders. Last April, the government faced strong criticism that security forces were ill-prepared to deal with the insurgent threat after 75 police were killed in an ambush in Chhattisgarh that led to the home minister tendering his resignation.

CBI deletes Wazhul's profile from 'most wanted list'

New Delhi, May 18 (ANI): A day after the terror list goof-up came to light, the Central Bureau of Investigation has deleted the name of Wazhul Kamar Khan from the list of India's 50 most wanted fugitives hiding in Pakistan. It was revealed yesterday that Khan, whose name had figured in the list of most wanted fugitives supposed to be in Pakistan, was actually found staying in Thane district of Maharashtra. Khan's name was 41st in the list of fugitives, who include underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, his 20 aides, 2008 Mumbai attack mastermind and Lashkar-e-Taiba founder Hafiz Saeed and dreaded terrorist Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi.
