Fuel shortage in Manipur due to economic blockade

Imphal, June 03 (ANI): Severely hit by the ongoing economic blockade, Manipur is facing an acute fuel shortage that has brought life in the region to a virtual standstill. The locals, already burdened by the scarcity of essential commodities like food and medicines, are stung by the fuel crisis. Thousands of two-wheelers, cars, trucks and buses have been queuing up at outlets across Manipur to receive their share of fuel. Due to this, roads in the state capital of Imphal have been perpetually clogged since the last few days. The cost of petrol has reached Rs. 120 to Rs. 150 a litre, and a filled gas cylinder is costing an exorbitant Rs. 1,500.

Protest against removal of priests in Nepal

Agra, January 5 (ANI): Protests are spreading in northern India over a ban on Indian priests at a famous Hindu temple in Nepal. Activists of radical Hindu outfit Bajrang Dal staged a protest in Agra on Sunday and burnt an effigy symbolising the Maoist government in Nepal. The trust that runs the Pashupatinath temple in Kathmandu sacked the Indian priests on December 28 last year. The protesters demanded that the priests be reinstated, saying the sacking was an insult to Hindus.

Mumbai, December 4 (ANI): People from all walks of life joined thousands of Mumbai citizens on Wednesday in a protest organised through text messages and Facebook to protest against last week's attacks and the government's failure to prevent them. Around 100,000 protesters marched from all over Mumbai and congregated at the Gateway of India, close to the scene of a 60-hour siege at the Taj Mahal Hotel. The protests were the biggest outpouring of public anger and frustration.
