Simdega, November 19 (ANI): The Bhokta tribal electorate of Kolebira block in Simdega district of Jharkhand took a written exam on Friday in a bid to bring forward educated persons from the community to contest the upcoming village council elections, which are scheduled on December 13. Five women of the Bhokta community, which has been categorized as Scheduled Caste, or economically disadvantaged persons, have been nominated for the polls. The tribals have been preparing for the exam for many days and the result of the same would be known on Saturday.

The authorities are expecting more than a million migratory birds at these wetlands this year. The state wildlife authorities claim to have received more avian visitors this year than they expected at the three famous wetland reserves established at Haygam, Hokersar and Shalibag in the picturesque valley. Officials at the Hokersar reserve asserted that comfortable climatic conditions, better protection and the easy availability of food in the region were the prime reasons behind the massive migration of birds.

The Supreme Court asked the Centre to file the affidavit by Saturday and fixed the hearing on Tuesday. Maoists kill another villager in Orissa
