Jhargram, April 02 (ANI): Maoists killed a school teacher in Jhargram area of West Bengal on Friday. 42-year-old Parbat Mahto, a worker of Communist Party of India-Marxist's youth wing Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI), was abducted by the rebels from near his residence. Mahto, a para-teacher of Ghritakham Primary School, was picked up when he had gone to take a bath at a nearby pond at yesterday morning. According to media reports, Parbat Mahto's body was found later near a culvert, about one kilometre away, from the village.

West Bengal, September 03 (ANI): Two CPM workers were shot dead on Thursday by suspected Maoists in West Midnapore district of West Bengal. This gory incident took place during a 24-hour shutdown call in the region. Police personnel spotted the two bodies at Ektal village around dawn. Maoists claimed responsibility for the attack as evident from the pamphlets and posters found at the spot, which read that the victims were rebels of the CPM's armed Harmad group and they were operating in close co-ordination with the police as informers.

India, Japan sign CEPA to boost trade

Tokyo, February 17 (ANI): India and Japan on Wednesday signed a comprehensive economic partnership agreement, which is expected to give greater market access to both the countries. The pact was signed between Commerce and Industry Minister Anand Sharma and Japanese Foreign Affairs Minister Seiji Maehara in Tokyo. The agreement seeks to eliminate tariffs on 90 percent of Japanese exports to India, such as auto parts and electric appliances, and 97 percent of imports from India, including agricultural and fisheries products, until 2021.
