16 Maoist rebels arrested in Jharkhand

Hazaribagh, November 20 (ANI): Police on Wednesday arrested 16 Maoist rebels and recovered arms and ammunitions from them in Hazaribagh district of Jharkhand. According to the police the rebels of the self-styled ‘Armed People's Military’ group surrendered after the Central Reserve Police Force or CRPF personnel and local police raided their jungle following a tip off. Police have also recovered lethal weapons that the Maoists had either looted or stolen from various police stations.

Bhadohi, January 24 (ANI): Weavers in Uttar Pradesh have made a gigantic carpet that will adorn the floors of a China hotel. Made by around 200 weavers in three months' time, the carpet measuring 113 feet in width and 160 feet in length has been made by weavers of Bhadohi, famous as the carpet hub of the country. The carpet has been made on a special order by China's Hyatt hotel and this is the first time that such a big carpet has been made by these weavers.

Bootleg liquor toll rises to 180 in southern India

Bangalore, May 23(ANI): The death toll in India's worst bootleg liquor tragedy in recent years rose to 180 on Thursday May 22 as 30 more victims died, police said. Labourers in neighbouring states of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu bought the liquor, sold in plastic pouches from illegal shops and laced with chemicals, at the weekend and immediately fell sick. At least 20 dealers were arrested by Thursday and 25 state customs officials suspended, but police said they were still unable to trace the source of the liquor sale.
