BJP extends full support to govt over Nepal crisis

New Delhi, August 14 (ANI): India's main opposition, the Bharatiya Janata Party, extended full support and cooperation to the central government, as it attempts to end the political deadlock in the Himalayan country of Nepal. Senior BJP leader Rajnath Singh, on Saturday met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to discuss the issue, and urged that democracy be re-instated in Nepal. Singh added that even citizens of Nepal are crying for restoration of democracy in the country. Nepal's Parliament failed to elect a new Prime Minister on August 6 for the fourth time, further delaying the peace process that ended a decade-long civil war.The political situation in the country has greatly hampered the peace process, which is a major concern for India as well.

Gurgaon, August 13 (ANI): Indian doctors said on Thursday that it was hard to prove that the new superbug - a gene called New Delhi metallo-beta-lactamase, or NDM-1, found in patients in South Asia and Britain could be attributed to medical tourism from the country alone while pressing for stringent antibiotic policies. But Dr Katariya added it was hard to gauge the impact of the findings on overseas patients coming to India for specialized treatment. Hooper denies corruption charges into CWG broadcast rights

New Delhi, August 13 (ANI): Mike Hooper, Chief Executive Officer of the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF), on Thursday denied the corruption charges by an interim report of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India into the broadcast rights of the 2010 games to be hosted by New Delhi. Hooper said that though the CGF had supported the appointment of Fast Track Sales Ltd for the broadcast rights, the decision lay with the Organising Committee (OC).CAG of India had pointed out that choosing Fast Track Sales Ltd as a consultant resulted in a revenue loss of over Rupees 240 million in sale of Games broadcast rights.

61 trucks carrying tones of explosives go missing

Rajasthan,August 13 (ANI):At least 61 trucks transporting 300 tonnes of explosives from a state-run factory in Rajasthan have gone missing on their way to central Madhya Pradesh state,in a period of four months.The trucks were sent from the state-owned Rajasthan Explosives and Chemical Limited (RECL) to Ganesh Magazine,a trading company,between April to July 2010.The explosives include detonators and gelatin sticks which are used in mining.The dealer was to supply the explosives to mining operators.The total cost of the missing explosives is estimated around Rs 1.30 crore.
