Three feared killed as temple ladder collapses

Kota, August 11 (ANI): Three pilgrims were feared killed and about 200 stranded at the Geparnath pilgrim centre when the ladder leading to the Mahadeva temple caved collapsed on Sunday in Kota. Early reports quoting eyewitnesses said that the cantilever type of ladder collapsed due to the heavy rush of pilgrims. Army was called in to assist in rescue operations. Disasters at temples are not uncommon in India, where thousands of people gather to pray during festivals.

Pakistan, August 11 (ANI): An audio tape allegedly made by Al Qaeda second-in-command Ayman al Zawahri has accused Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf and other politicians of trying to destablise Pakistan at the behest of the United States. Excerpts of the tape were obtained on Monday. Baker Atyani, the regional bureau chief of the Al Arabiya television channel, who met the Egyptian Zawahri in June 2001, said the tape appeared to be genuine.

13 dead in Peshawar bomb blast

Peshawar, August 12 (ANI): Thirteen people were killed and several injured in a bomb attack on an Air Force bus in Peshawar on Tuesday. A security official said the blast occurred near the Badaber Air Force Base on the outskirts of the city near the Afghanistan border. The bomb was planted on a bridge and went off as the vehicle drove over it. Pakistan has seen a wave of militant violence since July last year and hundreds of people have been killed, including many members of the security forces.
