Henchman of Indian gangster Chhota Rajan shot dead

Mumbai, June 03 (ANI): Farid Tanasha, a henchman of underworld don Chhota Rajan, was shot dead on Wednesday by two unidentified persons at his residence in Mumbai. Tanasha was rushed to nearby Rajawadi Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival. Police suspect Tanasha, who had turned an informer, was the target of revenge killing by another criminal gang. Married to Chhota Rajan's sister-in-law, Tanasha was involved in a number of extortion and murder cases. A verdict on one of the extortion cases is to be heard on June 7.

Imphal, June 03 (ANI): Severely hit by the ongoing economic blockade, Manipur is facing an acute fuel shortage that has brought life in the region to a virtual standstill. The locals, already burdened by the scarcity of essential commodities like food and medicines, are stung by the fuel crisis. Thousands of two-wheelers, cars, trucks and buses have been queuing up at outlets across Manipur to receive their share of fuel. Due to this, roads in the state capital of Imphal have been perpetually clogged since the last few days. The cost of petrol has reached Rs. 120 to Rs. 150 a litre, and a filled gas cylinder is costing an exorbitant Rs. 1,500.

New Delhi, June 03 (ANI): Even though the mercury dipped in New Delhi on Thursday, the thick cloud of dust settling over the city made life tough for locals, lowering visibility and causing respiratory issues. Strong gusts of winds carrying dust have been blowing in Delhi since Wednesday, obscuring the sun and lowering temperatures to 34.7 degree Celsius on Thursday morning. Subbarao not surprised by growth rate of 7.4%

Pune, June 02 (ANI): D Subbarao, Governor of Reserve Bank of India, on Tuesday said that he was not surprised by the whopping growth rate of 7.4% as it had been predicted. The Indian economy posted a whopping growth rate of 8.6% in the January-March quarter of 2010 and also registered 7.4% growth in 2009-10, beating the earlier estimate of 7.2%. The growth rate was piloted by robust showing in manufacturing sector which rose 16.3% in the three months through March from a year earlier, compared with a 13.8% gain in the previous quarter.
