AI strike enters second day, management threatens stern action

Mumbai, May 26 (ANI): Air India travelers in Mumbai were stranded as the employees of state-run Air carrier continued their strike for its second day on Wednesday. The employees gave the call for the strike to protest against the gag order and show-cause notice issued to two of its employees, which resulted in the cancellation of several flights. Apart from the gag order that was issued after the air crash at Mangalore on Saturday, non-payment of salaries was another issue that forced the staff to go on strike. Meanwhile, the Air India management has taken a tough stand against the strike, saying it could sack the employees if they don't return to work today.

ICC should comply with 'whereabouts clause': WADA

New Delhi, May 26 (ANI): David Howman, Director General of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) said that the International Cricket Council should convince its member bodies including India to comply with the WADA's clause of a player's whereabouts. He said this after his discussions with the concerned authorities in India at New Delhi on Tuesday. As per the WADA clause, the players are to inform their whereabouts on a daily basis for three months in advance.

Maoists block road construction in Chhattisgarh

Chattisgarh, May 26 (ANI): A group of Maoists targeted on Tuesday a road construction project near Barabsapur village in Kanker district of Chhattisgarh. They set on fire several trucks and allied earthmoving machinery engaged in the project. Reportedly, half a dozen armed Maoists attacked the site and torched the vehicles while their fellow ultras numbering around 150 stood at a distance in the hilly tracts of Barabsapur. He also said that the Maoists were wearing their uniforms and were heavily armed. Barabsapur is 45 kilometres away from the district headquarters.

Bihar, May 25 (ANI): The New Delhi-Guwahati Rajdhani Express derailed in Bihar, between Kharik and Naugachia railway stations on Tuesday. The derailment, that took place at village Amba round 6:30 am, happened after the driver of the train reportedly heard a loud explosion on the tracks and applied emergency brakes, leading to the derailment. Around 14 coaches derailed, but no casualties have been reported yet. Some of the passengers have bruises. A relief train was sent to the site while railway traffic remained disrupted in the area.

Samad was arrested yesterday, May 24 from Bhatkal district in Uttar Kannada, Karnataka and was produced in court today. Samad has been identified as the younger brother of Yasin Bhatkal, a key member of Indian Mujahideen (IM) - suspected of being involved in bomb blasts across the country in recent years. The Pune blast, which left 17 dead and more than 60 injured, was the first terror attack in the country after 26/11 attack in Mumbai in 2008.
