Mumbai, May 25 (ANI): Shaken by weak cues given by its global counterparts, the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) in Mumbai registered a weak opening on Tuesday. The 30-share BSE index dipped down by 260 points soon after the markets opened, leading to cautious trading by investors. The Sensex fell from the previous day's close of 16,469 to 16,209 within one hour of trade, signalling a spiralling downtrend. The general trend that can be seen among investors is bearish and the situation is likely to remain volatile, claim financial analysts.

Communal clashes in Ahmedabad, ten injured

Ahmedabad, May 25 (ANI): Ten people, including police personnel, were injured in clashes and stone-pelting incidents in Ahmedabad at the wee hours of Tuesday, as members of two communities clashed over loud music played during a wedding procession. A mob also set six shops, kiosks and an auto rickshaw on fire. Fire brigade personnel rushed to the spot and fought the blaze, rescuing several persons from the fire. Police lobbed more than a dozen teargas shells to control the situation.

Mumbai, May 25 (ANI): Air India officials in Mumbai on Tuesday confirmed the recovery of the black box of the ill-fated Air India Express plane that crashed a few days ago. The black box, which has been found intact, is expected to provide crucial insight into the cause of the accident, said AI officials. Meanwhile, officials also said that the body of the pilot was sent to his home country with full honors on Monday night from New Delhi. Singh also added that decoding the black box would take time, and help of foreign agencies would be sought to recreate the final moments of the plane before the crash.

Rathore sentenced to one and half years in jail

New Delhi, May 25 (ANI): A Sessions court in Chandigarh enhanced the sentence of former Haryana DGP SPS Rathore from six months to one-and-a-half years prison term in the Ruchika molestation case. The court directed that Rathore be taken to the local Burail Jail immediately following the dismissal of his appeal and enhancement of the sentence. The court also directed the jail superintendent to provide proper medical care to Rathore in jail on his lawyer-wife's plea that he requires care as he is a heart patient. Rathore was sentenced to six-month imprisonment on December 21 last year by a CBI court for molesting Ruchika, then aged 14, at Panchkula on August 12, 1990.
