Dwellings for displaced Hindus are underway

Jagti, June 14 (ANI): Construction of over 4200 dwellings for displaced Hindus is underway in Jagti village on the outskirts of Kashmir. Under the Prime Minister's rehabilitation package, 4218 two-room dwellings are under construction. More than 250,000 Kashmiri Hindus, known as 'Pandits', fled their burning homes when a revolt against Indian rule in Kashmir broke out in 1989. Officials said the construction would be over in five months.

Patna, August 7 (ANI): A new team of porcupines has become a major attraction in a zoo in Bihar. Sanjay Gandhi Zoo in Patna boasts of ten new Indian porcupines including a porcupette. According to reports, a man found these rare Indian porcupines at his residence in Patna. These were then handed over to the authorities of Sanjay Gandhi Zoo. The Indian porcupine is a large rodent covered with multiple layers of quills. It grows more that three feet long and weighs around 32 pounds.

Maoists kill trader in Jharkhand

Bengal, March 10(ANI): A fresh outbreak of bird flu in poultry has been reported from India’s West Bengal after fresh cases of bird flu were reported in Murshidabad and Birbhum districts of West Bengal. Some 2000 chicken have died in the Dubrajpur Block area of Birbhum. The worst hit has been Metela village with 700 dead chickens. Authorities in Murshidabad district on March 09 used loudspeakers to warn villagers to stay away from backyard poultry and cooperate with culling teams.

Leh, January 4 (ANI): The first snowfall of the season paralyzed normal life at Leh in the remote Ladakh region of Kashmir on Saturday. Snowfall lashed high altitude areas of the region including Kargil, Changthang, Zangskar and Nubra hitting the road transport badly. The night temperature recorded in Leh was minus 14 degrees Celsius, while the day temperature was minus eight degrees Celsius. All incoming and outgoing flights have been cancelled because of poor visibility at the airport.
