Washington DC, April 14 (ANI): Vishnu Prakash, spokesperson of India's Foreign Ministry in Washington DC on Tuesday said that France has backed India's bid for permanent seat in United Nations Security Council. He was briefing the media persons after the detailed discussions, which Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had with French President Nicolas Sarkozy at Washington on the sidelines of the ongoing Nuclear Security Summit, hosted by the US President, Barack Obama. During the meeting, Sarkozy is reported to have reiterated French support for India's claim for the permanent membership at UN Security Council.

The first stretch of 24 kilometres up till South Pullu checkpoint is metalled; however, the next stretch, which lies about 15 km beyond the pass from South Pullu to North Pullu is mostly loose rock, dirt and snow. During winters, temperature in the area goes as low as -40 to -45 degrees Celsius, bringing a real danger of snow sliding onto the road.
