At least 32 dead as Karachi Express derails

Karachi, 19 Dec (ANI): The Karachi Express, packed with holiday travellers, derailed on Wednesday December 19th, near the town of Mehrabpur, 400 kilometres north of Karachi in Pakistan. The train was on its way to Lahore when most of its carriages came off the tracks and rammed into each other at about 2:30 at night. According to officials, 32 bodies have been retrieved so far and around 100 people are injured. They fear the death toll could rise. Many of the passengers were heading home for Eid al-Adha, which falls on Friday.

Repair work resumes on Bhaderwah Chamba Inter-State Road

Jammu, July 13 (ANI): After being abandoned for the last two decades, the 147-km-long Bhaderwah-Chamba road has opened up 22 kilometres of repaired road to traffic. The road connects the town of Bhaderwah in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir with Chamba in neighbouring Himachal Pradesh. The road project has been sanctioned under the Inter-State Connectivity Programme at a cost of Rs. 730.33 million. Locals are happy with the initiative. The completion of the project will boost tourism, trade, and people-to-people contact, and will strengthen the local economy. It will also increase the potential of pilgrim tourism of Bhaderwah, which is known for several pilgrimages.
