Hundreds of devotees thronged the famous Jhandewalan temple in the capital to seek blessings of the Hindu goddess Durga. Early morning rituals were performed to mark the festival, symbolising the triumph of good over evil. As per the Hindu calendar, the beginning of Navratri also marks the Hindu New Year and celebrations assume even greater significance.
