New Delhi, February 26 (ANI): The Indian cabinet on Thursday approved the long-awaited Women Reservation Bill, which provides for 33 percent of reservation for women in Lok Sabha and state legislatures. The Bill was referred to the Standing Committee of Parliament on December 17, 2009 and its report was placed before the Lok Sabha by lawmaker of Bharatiya Janata Party Shahnawaz Hussain, and in the Rajya Sabha by ruling Congress lawmaker Jayanti Natrajan on Thursday.

New Delhi,February 26 (ANI): Indian women shooter Birmati won a silver medal on the sixth day of the ongoing Commonwealth Shooting championships being held in New Delhi on Thursday. She won the silver medal in the 50-meter Prone Badge and Pairs event for women by scoring 592 points.New Zealand shooter Sally Johnston who ended up bagging 593 points won the gold medal in the event. In the same event Jennifer McIntosh of Scotland finished third but was tied in points with the Indian shooter.

Patnaik creates sculpture of forthcoming Hockey World Cup

Puri, February 25 (ANI): India's renowned sand artist, Sudarsan Patnaik wished Indian hockey team for the upcoming world Cup Hockey in his own style. He has made a sculpture at the Puri beach, in Orissa depicting the Hockey World Cup championship, which will be staged in national capital New Delhi from 28 February. Patnaik and his team worked hard to create a mini-stadium with a hockey stick and a seven-feet high World Cup trophy at the beach after a labour of five hours. Patnaik and his team used 20 tonnes of sand. The sculpture was signed by several spectators who sent across their wishes for the Indian hockey team.
