Social activists call for Lokpal Bill to counter corruption

New Delhi, December 02 (ANI): Noted social activists such as Anna Hazare, Arvind Kejriwal, and Kiran Bedi have joined hands to curb corruption. The activists in New Delhi on Wednesday jointly gave a call for the enactment and the implementation of the long pending Lokpal Bill so as to counter corruption in higher echelons of the government. Kiran Bedi, former officer of the Indian Police Service (IPS) said that the police force in India is not worth carrying any prosecution of high profiled personalities and public figures than just booking petty thieves, pick pockets and small burglars.

Kashmir shutdown enters second day

Srinagar, April 10 (ANI): The shutdown in Kashmir to protest the killing of religious scholar Moulvi Showkat Shah entered second day today. Moulvi was killed in a bomb blast outside a mosque in Srinagar on Friday. Soon after the incident the separatist outfits including Hurriyat Conference and JKLF (Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front) gave a two-day shutdown call. Farooq, a local said that the public supported the shutdown and killings in the Kashmir valley should be stopped.
