New Delhi, August 01 (ANI): Incessant rains accompanied by strong winds lashed New Delhi for second consecutive day leading to water logging in many parts of the city. Mostly people stayed indoors and enjoyed the rain as it was Sunday with offices and schools closed, but the low-lying neighborhoods were inundated with heavy flow of water affecting the normal life. Overnight rains brought down the maximum temperature to 29.6 degree Celsius. According to Met department Delhi has recorded 62.7 mm of rains in the last 24 hours ending 8.30 AM today.

Shutdown in Kashmir to protest Moulvi's death

Srinagar, April 09 (ANI): Separatists gave a shutdown call in Kashmir today to protest the killing of Moulvi Showkat Shah, the moderate religious leader who denounced the violence that rocked the valley and agreed to engage in dialogue with interlocutors last year. Moulvi was killed in a bomb blast near a mosque in Srinagar on Friday. Both Hardline and moderate faction of the Hurriyat Conference along with JKLF (Jammu Kahsmir Liberation Front) have given the shutdown call that left the streets of Srinagar deserted and shops, schools and offices closed amid tension and fear. Meanwhile, authorities have mobilised and deployed hundreds of armed security personnel to patrol the area. Locals urged the government to take action and bring the culprits to book at the earliest.
