Orissa, February 08(ANI): Maoists on Sunday killed a villager in Sudergarh district of Orissa. Sukru Oram, a labourer was abducted and killed by the rebels on suspicions of being a police informer. Angered by his death, the villagers blocked the highway with piles of logs. Oram's killing was the third in the past ten days in the region.The Maoist rebellion began four decades ago championing the cause of poor peasants in the east, but has now spread to large areas of the country, with the rebels targeting police and government property in hit-and-run attacks.

Security forces allegedly shot Zahid near the office of Inspector General of CRPF at Kralsangri-Brain Nishat on Friday. Last Week, Wanik Farooq, resident of Rainawari, in Srinagar city, was also killed when police fired teargas shells to break up an anti-India demonstration. All shops, business establishments and government offices remained closed, and the traffic stayed off the roads today as well. Locals including students had to bear the brunt as they couldn’t go to colleges.
