Surat, August 27 (ANI): The Textile industry in Surat is facing a threat of closure due to lack of fuel supply and hike in gas prices. There are about 450 small and big units in the district and all of them use gas as fuel from Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL). According to the factory owners, in the last few years, the gas prices have raised from Rs. 11 per unit to Rs. 19 per unit. The supply has also been meager, badly affecting the production. Chief of South Gujarat Textiles Processors Association Pramod Choudhary said that they have voiced their complaints to the various lawmakers and ministers but to no avail. While many units are on the brink of a closure, several small units have already completely shut down.
