New Delhi, June 2 (ANI): Congress leader Meira Kumar filed her nomination for the post of Lok Sabha on Tuesday before P D T Achary, the Secretary General of Lok Sabha. Kumar, a Dalit, whose nomination was welcomed by all politicians, was accompanied by Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee and Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar. Kumar, a five-time lawmaker, will be the first woman to hold this office if elected. She was chosen by the ruling UPA following which she resigned from the Union Cabinet.

New Delhi, June 2 (ANI): The Lahore High Court on Tuesday ordered the release of Jamaat-ud-Dawa chief Hafiz Mohammad Saeed, who was detained for his role in the in the Mumbai terror attacks in November last year. A full bench of the Lahore High Court ordered the release in response to a habeas corpus petition filed by Saeed's lawyers challenging his detention. Apart from Saeed, the court also released another top JuD leader, Colonel Nazir Ahmed.
