New Delhi, December 15 (ANI): WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, a target of US ire for releasing secret cables, returned to a London jail on Tuesday pending an appeal over a decision to free him on 200,000-pound bail for alleged sex crimes. British judge Howard Riddle had initially granted Assange bail but prosecutors, representing Swedish authorities, challenged the decision before the 39-year-old Australian had left the court in central London.

New Delhi, November 11 (ANI): After the bus fare hike, commuters in Delhi will now have to shell out more for traveling on Metro rail as the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation on Wednesday announced a hike in its fares. The minimum fare from six Rs has been raised to eight Rs while the maximum will be 30Rs instead of 22Rs. The average increase in fare for all slabs is around 36 per cent, although 10 per cent discount on smart card will continue.

Thathri/Doda, September 5 (ANI): At least eight people were killed and 25 others injured when a bus skidded off the road and fell into the swollen Chenab River in Kashmir on Thursday. The overloaded mini-bus was heading towards Thathri from Kisthwar District. The rescue operation was begun immediately. Workers extricated the dead bodies and those injured from the bus. Some passengers are feared to be drowned in the strong waves of the Chenab River.
