Bijapur,June 06 (ANI): Maoist outfits in Chhattisgarh blocked the national highway 16 as part of their weeklong Jan Pituri (Revolutionary Week) that commenced on Saturday. Consequently,the local administration in the affected districts was on its toes to clear the roads by removing the trees,felled by the Maoists.Many bus operators kept off the roads fearing backlash from the rebels.Over the past decade and half,the Maoists have spread their influence in central and eastern regions of India and often attack railway lines and mining operations to cripple economic activity.

India releases 28 Pakistan prisoners

Wagah Border, November 15 (ANI): India released 28 Pakistan nationals on Friday as they completed their jail term. The prisoners, released on the recommendations of Pakistan-India Judicial Committee on Prisoners, crossed over from the Wagah check post in Punjab. The Pakistan-India Judicial Committee on Prisoners was formed in January 2007 to facilitate release of prisoners languishing in jails in either country.
