Twelve days after similar scenes were witnessed in Bangalore, stick-wielding police battered fans in front of the ticket counter at the Stadium, as chaos broke out among those waiting outside the arena since a day before to buy tickets.

Train services to Srinagar resume after blast on tracks

Srinagar, March 08 (ANI): Train services to Srinagar were resumed today morning, after militants blew up a portion of a railway track near the city. Train services were suspended after insurgents blew up a portion of a railway track near Nowgam railway station on the outskirts of Srinagar on Monday. According to the eyewitness, a huge explosion was heard on Monday evening. Locals rushed to the spot and saw the blast had damaged a portion of the track. Senior railway official reached the spot and temporarily repaired it.

College girl shot dead in New Delhi

New Delhi, March 08 (ANI): In a shocking incident, a girl student aged 21 year, was shot dead by an unidentified person outside her college in India's capital New Delhi on Tuesday morning. Radhika Tanwar, who was shot on a foot-over bridge in Satya Niketan area of Dhaula Kuan, was rushed to nearby Safdarjung Hospital by onlookers but she succumbed to her injuries. Tanwar, a second year student of Ram Lal Anand College of Delhi University, was pursuing a Bachelor degree in Arts. The family of the deceased was informed of the incident by college authorities.

On February 22, mutilated bodies of Mehboob Wadela of the Baloch National Movement and Rehman Arif of the Baloch Republican Party were found in the coastal town of Ormara. Both activists suspected to have been kidnapped by Pakistan intelligence agencies a few months ago, bore marks of extreme torture. The incident sparked protests in different parts of the province. The 'Kill and Dump' tactics by central agencies are on the rise as is clear from the number of bodies of missing Baloch people that are being recovered. According to the NGO, Voice for Baloch Missing Persons, as many as 101 bullet-riddled bodies of missing persons have surfaced over the past seven months.

New Delhi, March 07 (ANI): Aruna Shanbaug will live, the Supreme Court ruled Monday on the case of the nurse who has been lying in a 'persistent vegetative state' in Mumbai's KEM hospital for over 37 years. A Bench of Justices Markandey Katju and Gyan Sudha Misra said passive euthanasia would occur when medical treatment is withheld or withdrawn leading to the death of a terminally ill person. In such cases, a doctor does not administer a substance or any treatment meant to deliberately end a person's life. Instead, a doctor will agree to withdraw medical treatment when it is clear that a person will not recover from a terminal illness.
