School bus torched in Srinagar to enforce shutdown

Srinagar, December 04 (ANI): A mob torched a school bus in Old City area of Srinagar on Saturday to enforce a shutdown called by hardliner separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani across the Kashmir Valley. Although no one was injured but the incident has created terror amongst the locals. The bus was of Tibetan Public School and was stopped at Khwaja Bazaar in Old city area of Srinagar. According to local police there was one student, who along with the driver was forced to step down after which mobs torched the bus.

Police recover bodies of Maoist victims in WB

West Bengal, May 3 (ANI): Police traced the bodies of four persons near Goaltor in Paschimi Medinipur district of West Bengal on Sunday. It was suspected that Maoists had slain the four persons. The police got information from a local source and they searched for these bodies at several spots in the nearby Bhalukbasa under Salboni Police Station limits. The police also relied on Gopal Panda, an arrested Maoist and based on his indications, several places were dug before stumbling upon these four bodies. One of dead bodies has been identified as that of Susanta Pratihar, a goods carrier driver who was killed by Maoists in March.

Government okays World Cup tax exemption

New Delhi, April 01 (ANI): Government has extended Income Tax exemption for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 that would entail the organizers, to retain at least 450 million rupees. Minister of Information and Broadcasting Ambika Soni, disclosed this after a Cabinet meeting at New Delhi on Thursday. She also added that the central Cabinet approved the proposal of Finance Ministry for exempting ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 from income tax under section 10(39) of the Income Tax Act 1961. This will be in respect of income arising in India from the tournament and the financial implication would be in the range of 450 million rupees, she said.

The roadside bomb targeting a bus exploded at 7.40 a.m. about 150 miles from Colombo.

Singh\'s lawyer, Awais Ahmad Sheikh, met Sarabjit in his prison cell in Lahore and later told reporters that Sarabjit had sought mercy from Zardari. He showed the letter from sarabhjit to reporters.
