Bombay High Court upholds death sentence for Kasab

Mumbai, February 21 (ANI): The Bombay High Court on Monday upheld the death sentence given to Ajmal Aamir Kasab, Pakistani terrorist guilty of carrying out the 2008 Mumbai attacks, including waging war on India and murder, terming the case as rarest of rare and holding there was 'no scope of reform' of the convict. Ejaz Naqvi, lawyer of Sabahuddin Ahmed, an Indian national accused of preparing maps of Mumbai and giving them to Lashkar-e-Taiba operatives, said his client had been acquitted by the High Court.

Speaking to mediapersons in Mumbai today, a beaming Nikam said that court pronounced death for the extremist after accepting that the case was a 'rarest of the rare' crime. Meanwhile, reacting to the verdict, Home minister P. Chidambaram said in New Delhi today that the manner, in which the case of Kasab was dealt, has actually raised the prestige of Indian legal system.
