Land transfer issue continues to trigger protests

Sinagar/ New Delhi, June 28(ANI): Police fired bullets and teargas on Saturday to quell thousands of demonstrators across Kashmir as anger grew over the transfer of forestland to a Hindu shrine trust. Scores of people including chief of Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front, Mohammad Yasin Malik, were hurt when protesters clashed with police in the heart of Srinagar. The Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir has appealed the people to be calm. Protests were also witnessed in New Delhi.

Jaipur, August 28 (ANI): Devotees in Jaipur offered 125,000 ladoos to elephant headed Hindu god Ganesha as they celebrated Ladoo Festival ahead of the Ganesha Chaturthi. A large number of devotees visited Moti Dungri temple in the pink city to offer ladoos to please the God. Ladoos are considered to be the favourite sweets of Ganehsa who is believed to be the remover of obstacles.

New Delhi, November 8 (ANI): India's radical Hindu outfit Vishwa Hindu Parishad blamed central government of being biased to Hindus caught in terrorist attack. Anti-Terrorism Squad of Maharashtra state has arrested of holy-woman Pragya Singh, a radical Hindu activist, for her suspected involvement in September 29 blasts in western Malegaon, a Muslim dominated area, killing five people. The ATS arrested five people including Hindu activists and two retired army officials for their suspected role in the blast.

Mumbai, August 16 (ANI): Bollywood actor Katrina Kaif scorched the runway at the inaugural session of India International Jewellery Week (IIJW) that kicked off in Mumbai on Sunday. Kaif walked the ramp wearing a peach ruffled lehenga, created by fashion designer Neeta Lulla. The actress also sported chunky diamond jewellery that was based on the traditional seven-stone floral cluster design. The actress also unveiled a new bangle collection – the divine circles. IIJW is India’s first-ever Jewellery Week and would run till Thursday.

Henna or Mehndi, which is considered auspicious for married women, is part of the Karva Chauth ritual.

Special grasses attract migratory birds to Jaipur

Jaipur, Feb 22 (ANI): In an effort to attract migratory birds, special varieties of grasses are being grown at Mansagar Water Conservation Project in Jaipur. The members associated with the project brought nearly 250 trucks of different varieties of grasses like Paspula, spedorolla and Ipomia from Bharatpur to Mansagar Lake resulting in the arrival of migratory birds in droves. Reportedly, around 1,500 foreign birds have been sighted at Mansagar Lake during this winter as compared to nearly 450 birds that visited the region last year.

Rajkot, Jan 27 (ANI): Two school students have come up with innovative and eco-friendly ink in six colours from entirely unusual recourses like fruits and vegetables in India’s western city of Rajkot. Pooja Dholakia and Ridhi Dasani of Gujarat conducted successful experiments and managed to extract ink from vegetables. The teenagers have formulated six natural eco-friendly ink colours by crushing beetroots, turmeric, coriander and a motley of other vegetables.
